Eldora Speedway Close to Sell-Out for June 4 Old Spice Prelude to the Dream

ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 1, 2008) – For the fourth straight year, Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, will sell out its Old Spice Prelude to the Dream dirt late model race. Less than 500 general admission tickets remain.

For those unable to grab a seat for the June 4 all-star event featuring 25 world renowned drivers as they battle for dirt supremacy, HBO Pay-Per-View will present the event live to the entire nation with a goal to raise $1 million to benefit the construction of Victory Junction Gang Camp – Kansas City and the Tony Stewart Foundation.

For fans of FOX’s NASCAR coverage, the broadcast will have a familiar look and feel. Calling the race will be veteran FOX announcers Darrell Waltrip and Mike Joy, who will be joined by veteran NASCAR driver Kyle Petty. And in the pits will be the familiar FOX faces of Dick Berggren and Matt Yocum.

“We’re really fortunate that the whole FOX Sports crew has kind of taken this event as one of their own,” said Artie Kempner, senior coordinating directing for FOX Sports’ coverage of NASCAR and the NFL. “We’ve got our best cameramen who are coming right from Dover, going to Eldora, and then going right to Pocono on Thursday morning. We’ve got a top-level production team. We have our production manager, Lynn Mignani, who’s the best there is, organizing this whole event. Pete Chalveruz is our technical producer, and also my lead technical producer at FOX, will be there. We have the best and the brightest basically working for nothing because what Tony (Stewart) is doing is great. He does it out of the goodness of his heart, and his passion for this really translates into why I do it, why Pam Miller (producer) does it and why this whole crew does it. We’re doing it for the right reasons – Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Autism Society and Tony’s foundation. That’s why we’re committed to this event.”

The live, commercial-free broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. EDT (4 p.m. PDT), with an immediate replay and subsequent replays throughout the week and the following weekend. HBO Pay-Per-View’s racing telecast has a suggested retail price of $24.95 and is available to more than 61 million pay-per-view homes. Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch and defending Old Spice Prelude to the Dream winner Carl Edwards will join Stewart and numerous others in this year’s edition of the all-star dirt late model race. All will have their eyes fixed on winning the feature event, while much of the nation affixes its eyes on them via the live HBO Pay-Per-View broadcast.

“The Prelude is probably the biggest dirt track race that America will see, because of the stars that are in it,” said Kempner, who has ties to the Autism Society of Delaware, which received a $25,000 donation from the Tony Stewart Foundation following last year’s Old Spice Prelude to the Dream. “When you put Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson on a race track, it’s an important event. And to have the opportunity to cover it at such a neat place like Eldora, where you’ve got people who love the sport and come from all over, it’s just a great opportunity to bring the FOX Sports attitude into a place where we normally would not be able to do an event from.”

In addition to the aforementioned drivers, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, Bobby Labonte, J.J. Yeley, Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman, Bill Elliott, Dave Blaney, David Reutimann, Robby Gordon, Aric Almirola, Ron Capps, Cruz Pedregon, Ray Evernham, Red Farmer, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace have also committed to the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream.

Drivers from all types of disciplines, some with lots of dirt track experience and others with hardly any, will pilot 2,300-pound dirt late model stock cars capable of putting out over 800 horsepower. They’ll circle the half-mile, clay oval in hot laps, qualifying, heat races and the 30-lap feature, all of which will be televised live HBO Pay-Per-View.

With no points and no pressure, the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream is a throwback race, allowing drivers to step back in time and compete for the reasons they all went racing in the first place – pride and a trophy. And they’ll do it on the same surface that Indianapolis 500 legends like A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser, Al Unser Jr., and Parnelli Jones have competed on throughout the last 54 years.

· Cable Customers: All that is necessary to order the event is a digital cable box on your TV. If you are not sure about the kind of box you have, contact your cable company and ask if you have a digital cable box that gets Pay-Per-View. Once you know you have a digital cable box, scroll through the Pay-Per-View channels on your electronic program guide for Wednesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. EDT and look for “Auto Racing: Stewart/Gordon Race In Prelude/Dream.” Once you see the entry, click it and follow the on-screen instructions to order. If your cable system does not accept orders from your remote control, contact a Customer Service Representative either the day before or the day of the race.
