Farnbacher Loles Racing - Utah qualifying

Farnbacher Loles Racing came close to a second front-row race start this
weekend, but settled for fourth on the GT2 grid for Sunday's American Le
Mans Series race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

Dirk Werner of Kissenbrück, Germany, topped the class in the No. 87 Porsche
911 GT3 RSR during testing on Thursday, with a lap of one minute 47.925
seconds (101.671 mph) on the 3.048-mile road course. His co-driver, Marc
Basseng of Leutenbach, Germany, led the class during Friday practice, with
his quick lap of 1:47.292 (102.270 mph).

Basseng then handled qualifying duty in Utah, while Werner flew to Monterey,
Calif., to compete in a Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race at Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca. Werner joined Pierre Kaffer of Salenstein, Switzerland,
in the No. 87 Farnbacher Loles Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car that Kaffer qualified
second in the GT class.

Basseng had a quick start to qualifying at Miller Motorsports Park, posting
the second-fastest GT2 qualifying time on his fourth lap. He was working a
faster lap when he spun off track. His subsequent lap of 1:47.338 (102.227
mph) put him fourth on the 16-car GT2 grid. He will drive first on Sunday,
followed by Werner.

"I think all of the team suspected we would be on the front row, but we're
only fourth position. It was not perfect for me, but the gap is really
close. It's the first time we've been that close to first place," Basseng
said. "On one of my quick laps, I had a slide that cost me one and a half
tenths [of a second], so we missed the front row. I'm really sorry for the
team. But I think we have a good car for the race. We've shown that in all
the sessions. Now we will see what happens tomorrow."
