Nissan to contribute $25,000 to Hispanic educational efforts at El Reto Final Nissan 3 Press Conference

DALLAS, May 6 -- Nissan North America Inc., a pioneer in launching and bringing together international Latino sports and reality TV with the famed El Reto Final Nissan soccer series, is going even more "reality" in bringing together Hispanic initiatives of international magnitude.

As a title sponsor, Nissan has been involved in bringing some of the most exciting international soccer matches to US fans. This year, the intensity heightens as the anticipated soccer match between the best and most controversial Mexican soccer rivals, the Chivas de Guadalajara and the Club America, will be announced at the El Reto Final Nissan 3 Launch press conference on Wednesday, May 7th at 1 p.m. CST at the Sheraton Hotel (400 N. Olive St.) in Dallas, TX.

During this press event, Stephanie Valdez Streaty, Sr. Manager of Philanthropy and Diversity Communications, Nissan North America, Inc., will also be presenting a $25,000 charitable contribution to the League of Latin American Citizens (LULAC) symbolizing Nissan's support of LULAC's educational initiatives. Rosa Rosales, LULAC's National President, will be accepting the contribution.

"LULAC is always at the forefront of all issues concerning the well-being of the US Hispanic community, therefore, we are looking forward to teaming up with Nissan on this new, exciting endeavor which will be unveiled this Wednesday," said Rosa Rosales. "We look forward to building a long term relationship, developing ways to educate US Hispanics on issues that are core to this country's well being in the years to come."

With this contribution, Nissan becomes a member of the LULAC Corporate Alliance, which fosters relationships between corporations, the Hispanic community and LULAC. As part of the Alliance, Nissan will work with LULAC in developing national and community-based programs to address the needs of the Hispanic community and work toward ensuring that the nation's future workforce obtains the necessary education and skills to keep America productive.

"Nissan values LULAC's priority on education," said Stephanie Valdez Streaty, "LULAC has a rich history of helping to further the Hispanic community - a community that is very important to our company. Nissan has always recognized the value and contributions of the Hispanic community."

About LULAC

League of United Latino American Citizens (LULAC) has approximately 115,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. It is the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the United States. LULAC advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 700 LULAC councils nationwide. The organization involves and serves all Hispanic nationality groups. For more information, go to www.lulac.org.

That is Nissan's global vision when it comes to improving the quality of life in the communities it serves. Nissan has always recognized the value of the Latino community, and through contributions to Latino organizations like LULAC, it has invested over $1,000,000 in programs that foster the growth of this influential community in areas such as:

Education - Nissan believes that investing in education is critical to ensuring the success of the next generation of leaders who will positively impact and improve our communities. That is why it has joined with organizations such as the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and Hispanic Achievers to assist in their quest for educational success among Latinos.

Nissan is also now a member of the LULAC Corporate Alliance, which fosters relationships between corporations, the Hispanic community and LULAC. As part of the Alliance, Nissan will work with LULAC in developing national and community-based programs to address the needs of the Hispanic community and work toward ensuring that the nation's future workforce obtains the necessary education and skills to keep America productive.

Leadership - Nissan's goal is to find people looking to the future and to provide them with the opportunity to help build tomorrow's society. By establishing long-lasting associations with Latino organizations such as the National Hispana Leadership Institute, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Nissan is taking part in nurturing future leaders with the tools that will help them succeed.

Development - Every day more and more Latinos are becoming an integral part of our society and Nissan is working alongside them to achieve the American dream. Through its association with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Nissan is continuing its tradition of embracing and practicing diversity by opening more doors for Hispanic small business owners. In June 2007, Nissan worked alongside Habitat for Humanity to assist in the efforts to make affordable housing to families like the Martinez family in Dallas, TX, helping increase the number of Hispanic house owners in the U.S.

Through these and many other future initiatives, Nissan is working towards its goal of supporting tomorrow's society and helping create social values. Nissan believes in the value of the Latino community and that together, they can work to make a better tomorrow, today.
