FIRST ROUND LOSS FOR LUCAS
MADISON, Ill. (May 4) – Morgan Lucas was defeated in the first round of eliminations at the O’Reilly Midwest Nationals against arch-rival, Tony Schumacher for the second consecutive race weekend.
Lucas did his job at the starting line leaving first over his opponent (.054 - .063), but was reeled in by Schumacher before reaching the finish line resulting in a .064-thousandths-of-a-second margin of victory against the Brownsburg, Indiana driver.
Schumacher ran an elapsed time of 4.531 seconds, 323.97 mph to Lucas’ time of 4.604 seconds, 313.95 mph.
Lucas will remain in the No. 11 spot in the POWERade Top Fuel rankings with 265 points after the completion of seven of 24 events.
The next NHRA National event will be the eighth annual O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway slated to run on May 16 – 18.
