BROOKLYN, Mich. — About 60 business leaders representing more than 30 businesses from the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce networked on Friday in the atmosphere of one of Michigan’s most exciting and fast-paced venues — Michigan International Speedway.

MIS opened its doors to many of the state’s key business decision makers to showcase the unique and awesome business-to-business and entertainment options the speedway offers.

“Twenty years ago, the ability to hit a golf ball was an essential part of doing business because most major deals were done either ‘at the club’ or on a golf course,” speedway President Roger Curtis said. “Businesses are discovering that you don’t have to sponsor Dale Earnhardt Jr. or name a race after your company to still entertain and network at Michigan International Speedway. We wanted our business partners from the Detroit Chamber of Commerce to get a first-hand view of what MIS has to offer. I’m proud that Detroit businesses see the value of MIS for their business and for this state.”

Some businesses use the racetrack to showcase their products or offer product sampling to some of the 100,000 race fans who attend MIS events. Other companies reward employees and preferred customers or entertain prospective customers with a day of NASCAR racing at MIS.

Curtis said that while some business leaders will always feel more comfortable doing business on a golf course, he believes they may think twice and book an event at Michigan International Speedway during a NASCAR race, one of the most popular and exciting entertainment values in the world.

No one knows networking like NASCAR and MIS. Presidents, CEOs and key decision makers from many of America’s Fortune 500 companies and other large corporations understand the benefits of doing business at a NASCAR facility. Michigan International Speedway hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series a year and it partners with some of the biggest names in business — Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Miller Brewing Co., Sprint, 3M, LifeLock and Home Depot, to name a few.

Many regional businesses call Michigan International Speedway home, too. Cool City Customs, a custom bike builder from Lyons, Mich., is the Official Bike Builder of Michigan International Speedway and sponsor of the Cool City Customs 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Also, Walt Michal’s RV Superstore of Belleville, Mich. sponsors all camping and campgrounds on the 1,400-acre MIS property. Additionally, ALRO Steel and L&W Engineering are two long-time suite holders at the track.

MIS hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock 400 on June 15 and the 3M Performance 400 on August 17. Other events include the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Cool City Customs 200 on June 14, the NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 August 16 and the ARCA RE/MAX Series Michigan 200 June 13.
