INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, May 1, 2008 – Bronze Badge credentials for the 2008 Indianapolis 500 are available for purchase in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Client Service Office.

For $100, a Bronze Badge offers fans a unique opportunity to be a part of the action of the 92nd Indianapolis 500. A Bronze Badge is valid for gate admission and Gasoline Alley garage access Saturday, May 4 to Saturday, May 24. The Bronze Badge is not valid on Race Day, Sunday, May 25.

To purchase a Bronze Badge, visit the IMS Client Service Office in the IMS Administration building at the corner of 16th Street and Georgetown Road. To purchase and use a Badge, the purchaser must be 18 or older and sign the consent and liability release form. If the purchaser is buying Badges for others who are not present, a redemption coupon will be issued. Badges are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and at the discretion of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Besides offering up-close access to “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” the Bronze Badge is also a collector’s item. This year’s Badge depicts the event logo over the world famous Yard of Bricks start/finish line.

Legends coming to IMS to talk with fans: An impressive lineup of legendary Indianapolis 500 drivers is returning to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during May to participate in question-and-answer sessions with fans.

The sessions will take place on the Coke Zero Stage in the Pagoda Plaza at IMS. The schedule:

•Sunday, May 4: 1-1:30 p.m. – Al Unser, Al Unser Jr., Al Unser III, Johnny Unser, Robby Unser

•Saturday, May 10: 1-2:45 p.m. – Mel Kenyon, Bill Vukovich Jr.

•Sunday, May 11: 1-2:45 p.m. – Tom Sneva

•Sunday, May 18: 1-2:45 p.m. – Michael Andretti, Bobby Rahal

•Wednesday, May 21: 2:30-3 p.m. – Rick Mears

Quickest Bump Day driver to be rewarded: Red Gold, a leading producer of premium quality tomato products since 1942, will offer an incentive for drivers attempting to find extra speed on Bump Day, the dramatic final day of qualifications for the 92nd Indianapolis 500.

The driver who posts the quickest lap time during a qualification attempt that secures a starting spot on Bump Day, Sunday, May 18, will earn the $10,000 Red Gold Red Zone Award. The quick lap cannot come on a successful attempt that later is bumped from the starting field.

Brickyard Crossing still open in May: Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, one of America’s premier public courses, remains open and ready for play during much of the Indianapolis 500 activity days in the month of May.

Located on the grounds of the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the 18-hole, championship-caliber Brickyard Crossing Golf Course is one of the world’s unique golfing experiences all year long, but particularly so while Indianapolis 500 activities are underway on the 2.5-mile oval, with race cars roaring past at 220 mph.

The course will be open every day in May except the four qualification days (May 10-11 and May 17-18), Miller Lite Carb Day (Friday, May 23) and Indianapolis 500 Race Day (Sunday, May 25).

Free cholesterol screenings at IMS: The Vision Racing Wellness Tour is coming to the 92nd Indianapolis 500, with free health screenings for fans throughout the month of May.

Cardio-Chek, an associate sponsor of the No. 20 Menards/Vision Racing car driven by Ed Carpenter, will screen fans’ cholesterol and glucose levels at MotoGP Garage 33, adjacent to the Pagoda Plaza at IMS. Free screenings will be available from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, May 9; Saturday, May 10; Wednesday, May 21 and Friday, May 23, and from 8 a.m.-noon Sunday, May 25.

Free screenings also will be provided by Cardio-Chek later this summer during IndyCar Series events at Milwaukee, Texas, Iowa, Richmond, Watkins Glen, Nashville, Mid-Ohio, Kentucky, Infineon, Belle Isle and Chicagoland, as well as the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and Red Bull Indianapolis GP at IMS.

Troops participating in remote Mini-Marathon: Soldiers from the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed at LSA Anaconda/Balad Air Force Base in Iraq can participate in a special, remote version of the 2008 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on Saturday, May 3, the same day as the Mini-Marathon in Indianapolis.

Troops participating in the remote version of the Mini-Marathon will have many of the same amenities as participants in Indianapolis will have. Entries for the participants are being provided courtesy of 500 Festival Mini-Marathon sponsors, including OneAmerica, Finish Line, Marsh, St. Francis and Subway. The 500 Festival is also providing a Mini-Marathon kit, which will include an official start line banner and new timing-and-scoring chips.

In 2007, more than 800 members of the Indiana National Guard’s 38th Division Support Command participated in a remote version of the Mini-Marathon in Baghdad.

In 2004, the 500 Festival responded to a request from the Indiana National Guard’s 38th Infantry Division to stage a remote Mini-Marathon in Bosnia. The race was successful, with more than 500 participants who received everything from finisher’s medals to new socks for the race, courtesy of Mini-Marathon sponsors. In 2005, the remote Mini-Marathon took place in Afghanistan under the auspices of the 76th Brigade Combat Team.
