-- Five hundred care packages to be sent to deployed troops
What: To kick off Military Appreciation Month, Chrysler will honor those
employees who have been called to active military duty as members
of the Michigan National Guard and U.S. Military Reserve.
In recognition of this effort, along with its long history of
military support, Chrysler will be honored by the Employer Support
of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) with the 2008 Pro Patria Award.
This award is presented to one employer in the state each year who
demonstrates exceptional support for national defense by adopting
personnel policies that allow employees to actively participate in
the National Guard and Reserve.
To further Chrysler's support during Military Appreciation Month,
The Chrysler Foundation will make a donation to the Michigan
National Guard and to Operation Gratitude, a non-profit
organization that seeks to lift troops' morale, by sending care
packages to service members overseas.
In partnership with Operation Gratitude, the Chrysler Veterans
Committee has collected enough items to fill 500 care packages that
will be sent to deployed troops. Bob Nardelli and other Chrysler
executives will join employee volunteers in assembling the care
packages.
