INAUGURAL SPRING CLASH
FOR SAFETY-KLEEN SPRINT CARS

AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY ON APRIL 25
$3000 to Win, $300 to Start
Plus Lap Prizes

BLOOMINGTON, IN (April 20) - This season, we are introducing a race that is destined to become one of our most popular races. And, it is making its appearance only three races deep in our schedule. The Sheldon Kinser Memorial, our big Indiana Sprint Week program, our fireworks show have all become races that our fans and competitors look forward to every year. The Spring Clash will almost certainly be anticipated in the same way in years to come.

In Indiana we are indeed fortunate to have literally hundreds of sprint car racers routinely testing their metal against the best drivers in the nation. They come to Indiana expecting to be ready for NASCAR at the end of a season. That's like a guitar player going to Nashville, Tenn. expecting to go to work on the Grand Ole Opry. It has happened; but not very often. However it does give us great sprint car racing. The huge crowds that turn out for our big races may be as important to the journeyman racers as the big prize money.

Even though our 2008 season has barely started, we already have heard talk about championship plans. While this almost certainly is a little early to be thinking about that, it is exactly the right time for us to begin watching the progress of drivers who may be the next Jeff Gordon or even Tony Stewart. Dylan Burge is an eighth grader from Columbus; and he is already in his second year as a sprint car driver. His parents are both busy executives with Cummins; and time is at premium for both of them. However, Dylan very much wants to be a successful race driver; and they will do everything possible to help him achieve his dream.

This Friday night's Spring Clash will be the biggest race that Dylan has run. In fact it was toward the end of last season before Dylan and his parents felt confident enough to race at Bloomington Speedway. This will be a big night for Dylan; and making the feature will be a major accomplishment for the Burge team. There will be scores of similar stories. Don't miss the opportunity to watch each of these stories unfold.

In addition, the O'Neal Wood Products modifieds will be running for $700 to win with proper decals and the Tire & Wheel Center super stocks will be in competition racing for $600 to win with proper decals.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $15 for this event (children 12 and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $30. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.

Safety-Kleen Sprint Cars - O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks

DARF & HARF NIGHT MEMBERS ADMITTED AT HALF PRICE

BLOOMINGTON, IN (April 20) - Our May 2 race is a program that we always enjoy as it is dedicated to the people who have helped us keen racing since 1923. DARF and HARF are organizations of race fans who turn out in force to watch our races every time we open the gates. On May 2 their members will be admitted for half price when they present their membership card at the gate. Of course, they will also receive what they really come for, the best in motorsports.

The Bloomington Speedway racing season is underway. There has been tough competition for just about every spot in every race. There is really no reason to expect that to change. The red clay plays no favorites. The team that does their job well will finish up in front; however, those who make mistakes will pay for them.

Each season most of our competitors from the previous season return. Usually, they are running in the same class but with better equipment. None of them are satisfied with what they ran last year even if they won their championship. That is, of course, because they know that those they will be racing will also have better equipment. They will have to get faster to stay even. This makes for a better show for the fans; and, at Bloomington Speedway, that's what's important.

In each of the past three seasons a top O'Neal Wood Products modified driver has elected to move up to the Safety-Kleen sprint car series. They were Brady Short (2006), Jeff Bland, Jr. (2007), and Jesse Cramer (2008). Both Short and Bland were successful enough to be named Rookie of the Year by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Bloomington Speedway is committed to providing the best motorsports entertainment every Friday night. The red clay for which we are famous assures a competitor who has trouble early in the evening a fair shot of moving up to take a good finish later in the evening. The track is the great equalizer. Join us on May 2 to see which drivers are leading us into May.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $12 for this event Children twelve and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $25.
