Citroen sees double success at What Diesel's 2008 Awards

PARIS, FRANCE - Citroën has picked up double honours at this year’s What Diesel awards, taking home the Best MPV accolade for its Grand C4 Picasso for the second year running. The Company also won the newest and coveted title of Best Green Manufacturer, in recognition of its impressive environmental credentials.

Up against Ford’s S-Max and the Mazda5, Citroën’s Grand C4 Picasso clinched the Best MPV title, with the judges heaping praise on the car’s style, practicality, sophistication and build quality. After the Citroën C4 Picasso’s 2007 Car of the Year win, this year’s success further underlines Citroën’s expertise in manufacturing exceptional family vehicles.

What Diesel’s Editor, Ian Robertson said: "The C4 Grand Picasso epitomises all that anyone would need from an MPV. It's well equipped, priced keenly and offers some of the best diesel engines available anywhere in the marketplace."

In the brand new Best Green Manufacturer category, Citroën fought off tough competition, taking a clear victory with the judges admiring the marque’s extensive range of city, super-mini and family sized cars with emissions less than 120g/km of CO2. Alongside the accolade the Company’s biodiesel compatible HDi units, Stop & Start technology and advanced Electronic Gearbox systems were all mentioned. The What Diesel panel also made recognition of Citroën’s innovative concept cars, such as the C-Cactus which showcase the future of the French manufacturer’s environmentally-friendly technology.

Ian Robertson also commented on Citroën’s Best Green Manufacturer Award saying: "Citroen has been at the forefront of eco-friendly motoring, offering a class leading number of low-emission vehicles. This is more important than ever in the wake of the recent announcement by the Chancellor, reforming the Vehicle Excise Duty bandings."
