BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 15, 2008) – In 2008, the local Brooklyn-Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce wants to celebrate 40 years of racing at the speedway by hosting the Brooklyn-Irish Hills Race Days Festival presented by Country Market, which will kickoff the start to the season on Thursday, June 12.

The day-long festival will feature a variety of fun and interactive activities for fans and community members, including a car show in downtown Brooklyn, go-kart racing at Victory Lane Speedway, live music performed by area bands, show cars, racing simulators, kids rides and food. Shuttle service to and from campgrounds to the festival and car show will be provided.

“We’re excited about the Brooklyn-Irish Hills Race Festival presented by Country Market,” Cindy Hubbell, executive director of the Brooklyn-Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce said. “MIS has been a wonderful asset to the local community and this festival will help kickoff the track’s 40th anniversary season. We really want the community and fans to attend this event and make it something special this summer.”

Michigan International Speedway is donating $5,000 to help support the event.

“We’re hoping to make this festival something that our local community can enjoy before our June race weekend,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “We’ve always appreciated their support as well as our other surrounding communities.”

Tickets and camping to the June 15 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock 400 are on sale by calling the speedway’s Ticket Hotline at 800-354-1010 or logging onto MISpeedway.com.

Other events during the June 13-15 weekend include the ARCA RE/MAX Series 200-mile race on June 13 and the Cool City Customs 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on June 14. The season concludes Aug. 15-17 for the CARFAX 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series event and the 3M Performance 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
