FOCUSES AT TRACY, JUNIORS AT VENTURA SATURDAY;
HOMMEL FINALLY FINDS WINNERS CIRCLE AT BLYTHE
Saturday's "USAC Pacific Coast Spring Nationals" at Altamont Raceway Park in Tracy, Calif. includes the California Pavement Ford Focus Midgets, along with the USAC Western Sprint Car and Midgets. Ian Miille carries an eight-point lead over Justin Hommel into the program.
Miille finished third behind Hommel and Alex Bowman in last Saturday night's 25-lapper at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif. The win was Hommel's first in the series as he led the final 22 laps after passing Brendan Langlois on lap four. Langlois finished fourth ahead of fifth-place finisher Jeff Oleen.
Millle was the fastest qualifier at Blythe, while Hommel won a trophy dash and Langlois won a heat race.
Tom Dyer, Beau DeBard and Tim Skoglund won 2007 USAC Focus races at Tracy, Hommel will try to improve on his 2007 Tracy finishes of ninth, 10th and 11th.
USAC's Junior Focus Series resumes this Saturday at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway where Lance Butler, who has already won twice, trails Tyler Edwards by 10 points in the latest standings.
