"POWER OF PURPLE NIGHT" APRIL 26 AT PERRIS;

RODRIGUEZ GETS CRA VICTORY #1 AT THE PAS

            Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif. is back atop the standings in the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series, which returns to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway April 26 for "Power of Purple Night" honoring the American Cancer Society.

            Kruseman finished second to Johnny Rodriguez in last Saturday's 30-lap feature at the 1/2-mile dirt oval and emerged with a 42-point cushion over Mike Spencer, who flipped during the race but escaped injury.

            Rodriguez, of Elk Grove, Calif., earned his first USAC/CRA triumph, leading the final six laps in his JM Realty/Mancha Realty - ART Enterprises Maxim/Ott to beat Kruseman, R.J. Johnson, defending series champion Tony Jones and Blake Miller.

            Rodriguez was also the night's fastest qualifier as his teammate Matt Mitchell had the second fast qualifying time, both making their initial appearances of the season!

            Jones led the opening lap, Johnson led the next 15 and Hansen led eight before yielding to eventual race winner Rodriguez. The 30-lap race witnessed seven flips!
