Lance Dewease Races to Second at Port Royal After Weather Forces
Change in Plans
FAYETTEVILLE, PA. –Lance Dewease drove the No. 30c Catoctin
Motorsports to a strong second-place finish in the Sprint feature at
Port Royal Speedway after the team decided not to go to Eldora for the
World of Outlaws races at the Ohio track.
With the weather across the middle of the country looking decidedly
doubtful, Dewease and his team “looked at it [the weather map] on
Thursday morning and the percentage for rain was about the same at
Eldora or at home. We decided instead of driving nine hours and
getting rained on, we’d stay home and get rained on,” he commented.
That outcome is almost exactly what happened, with the Friday night
races at Williams Grove Speedway getting rained out.
Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night was a different story however,
as “things went pretty good Saturday night,” he said. “We started
twelfth [in the feature] and ended up second.” Dewease obviously knows
Port Royal’s track well: he has 91 feature wins and holds the 25 and
30-lap records at the track. “We had a pretty decent car,” he
continued. “I got the wing too far back and picked up a push on the
last caution. Once we got going, we got pretty good though.
Dewease says that his next races are planned for Williams Grove on
Friday night and either Lincoln Speedway or Port Royal again on
Saturday. If history repeats, he’ll be one to bet on at both tracks.
