Italian and U.S. Teams Clash on May 10, 2008 at the Land Rover America's Polo Cup

This year's Land Rover America's Polo Cup combines the alluring and seductive worlds of wine, fashion, cuisine, and music, as top polo players from the U.S. and Italy excite the crowds while proving their skills. Galloping ponies fluid in their execution, running at top speeds - the players themselves showcasing the sixth sense necessary to anticipate their opponents' next move. Due to the incredible speeds of the horses, the element of danger requiring the horsemen to be exact will once again excite the spectators at the Land Rover America's Polo Cup.

The weekend kicks off at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 9 with the U.S. vs. Italy Culinary Competition, Virginia Wine Competition & International Fashion Show titled "Rockin the Runway." Models will enter in Land Rover chauffeured vehicles, and then strut down the catwalk dazzling the crowds with fashions from top Italian and American designers, taking the competition to the next level. Leading chefs from both countries - including Chef Enzo of the acclaimed Washington D.C. restaurant, D' Acqua - will compete in the culinary challenge. Live music and dancing will follow. The Polo matches begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 when the returning U.S. team and the challenging Italian team hit the field. Directly following the polo match, Huey Lewis & the News will rock the stage during a live concert. A spectacular half-time show will feature the U.S. Coast Guard helicopters and a ceremonial divot stomp, complete with live music by Virginia's famous "No Speed Limit."

Prior to the event, performances will include U.S. and Italian National Anthems, Air Parachute Team Show by BlackWater USA, U.S. Navy F-18 Fly Over and Air Show, along with U.S. Park Police Aviation Unit & Homeland Security demonstrations. The America's Polo Cup 2009 challenging country also will be announced. Morven Park gates will open at 2 p.m. with Free Parking. Children 12 and under are Free.
