Young Engineers Compete with Futuristic, Eco-Friendly Vehicles to Achieve the Highest Mileage Using the Least Amount of Fuel

 Students from Canada, Mexico and the United States Compete in 2008 Shell
                        Eco-marathon(TM) Americas

  WHAT:    Student engineers from across Canada, Mexico and the United
           States will compete for the title of the most fuel-efficient
           vehicle during the 2008 Shell Eco-marathon Americas. Student
           teams will make history by competing in high-mileage, eco-
           friendly prototype vehicles fueled by gasoline, hydrogen, diesel
           fuel, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or solar power. The team with
           the vehicle that travels the farthest distance using the least
           amount of fuel wins US$10,000 for their school.

              president of Shell Oil Products U.S., ceremonial waving of
              flags and the announcement -- "Students, start your fuel-
              efficient engines!"

           -- Opportunity to test drive prototype vehicle or Urban Concept
              car from Spain

              vehicles

  WHO:     -- Thirty-five high school and college teams from Canada, Mexico
              and the U.S.
           -- Teams from Southern California: UCLA, Cal State L.A., LMU, Los
              Altos School of Engineering, UCSB, Schurr High School in
              Montebello, Calif., and Centennial High School in Corona
              County, Calif.
           -- The 2007 winning team: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
           -- Shell executives, scientists and engineers
