Lance Dewease Captures All Star Circuit of Champions Point Lead With Attica Victory

Lance Dewease Captures All Star Circuit of Champions Point Lead With
Attica Victory
FAYETTEVILLE, PA. –Lance Dewease drove the No. 30c Catoctin
Motorsports Sprint car to his first All Star Circuit of Champions
season victory (and 23rd career ASCoC checker) Friday night at Attica
Raceway in Attica, Ohio.

The victory gave Dewease a solid point lead in the ASCoC point battle,
with a spread of over 100 points over second-place Dale Blaney. The
point lead is shared in owner points, with Catoctin holding the same
point lead over the next owner.

Over 40 cars showed up for the season opener, in spite of flooding and
a nearby state of emergency after continued hard rains in the area.
The Attica Raceway Park grounds crew labored all day bringing the
track into condition for the races. “The track was a little rough,”
reported Dewease, “but we got the job done. It was real soft but the
track crew did a wonderful job at trying to keep it as best they
could. They worked their butts off all day and night, trying to keep
rolling it back in, to keep it as smooth as possible.”

Track conditions didn’t hold the Catoctin Motorsports No. 30c car back
in time trials, as Dewease took second, barely six hundredths of a
second behind top qualifier Brian Ellenberger. Dewease placed fifth in
the second heat, then fifth again in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Dash.

The feature race saw Lance start fourth, then shoot into the lead less
than two laps into the race. He “led it for a good while and Byron
Reed, the local track champion there, got by,” Dewease said. “We were
actually in a pretty heated battle with him back and forth and
actually passed him back when a caution flew with eight laps to go.”
The local racer pulled into the pits with a fuel problem and Dewease
went on to capture the victory.

“It was just one of those deals with whoever hits the holes and got
through the holes best,” reported Dewease. “It was good that lap – it
could be good one lap and bad the next lap,” he added. “I’m just happy
to come out with the point lead and hopefully build out lead so when
we get to tracks we might struggle at, we have a good, commanding
lead,” he added.

The next race for Dewease is this weekend’s World of Outlaws race at
Eldora, the returning to his home area and busy weekend of races at
Williams Grove and Port Royal Speedways in Pennsylvania the following
week.
