Ringers Circle Track Racing Round-Up
_________________________________________________________________________
Brownsburg, Ind. (April 2, 2008) – The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and
Sprint Cup Series visited the legendary short track of Martinsville Speedway in
Martinsville, Va., over the weekend.
Brendan Gaughan led the field of Ringers’ supporting racers to the checkered
flag in 11th place. Gaughan actually was running in second place in the
closing laps of the race, but had to pit under green to top off on fuel.
The next supporting team to the finish line was the No. 07 Green Light
Racing fielded entry, with Ryan Lawler behind the wheel for the race. Lawler
brought the No. 07 Chevrolet home in 17th.
Denny Hamlin piloted one of the two Billy Ballew Motorsports entries in the
Kroger 200, while BBM regular Kyle Busch drove the second. Hamlin finished
the race in 21st, with Busch in 26th.
The second truck of Green Light Racing, the No. 08 driven by Jason White,
finished right behind Busch in 27th.
All three racers of the Penske Racing trio qualified and finished the Sprint
Cup Series Goody’s Cool Orange 500 on Sunday, with Daytona 500 winning
driver Ryan Newman leading the pack to the finish in 19th in his No. 12 Alltel
Dodge. Rookie driver Sam Hornish Jr., finished behind him in 28th and Kurt
Busch in 33rd in the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series head to Texas Motor Speedway
this weekend for their respective races, while the Craftsman Truck Series enjoys
a couple weekends off before returning to action in the O’Reilly Auto Parts
250 at Kansas Speedway, April 26.
Ringers Gloves would also like to recognize supporting racer Matt Long and
his career-best finish in the Fastrak Touring Series during Late Model Mania
at Lavonia Speedway in Georgia. Long, whose everyday job is an account
executive in corporate sales at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, collected a runner-up finish
in his season-opening race.
