OnGuard to Distribute Reserve Power Module ("RPM") to New and Used Car Dealerships

POMPTON PLAINS, N.J., March 28 -- Smart Energy Solutions, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: SMGY) , developer and manufacturer of the innovative BatteryBrain(TM) electronic control unit for vehicle batteries developed specifically for the new and used car/truck dealership markets has signed a 10-year distribution agreement with OnGuard Dealer Services, LLC ("OnGuard"). OnGuard, a specialized automotive dealer services business based in Florida, will have exclusive nationwide rights (excluding California) to sell a private label version of the popular BatteryBrain(TM) electronic control system called the Reserve Power Module ("RPM"), in the new and used car dealer market segments. RPM is a specially developed product for this market segment and ensures that an engine battery will always maintain enough power to start and also prevents vehicle theft.

Pete Mateja, CEO of Smart Energy Solutions, Inc. stated, "The agreement with OnGuard provides Smart Energy Solutions the opportunity to rapidly increase its penetration in the American vehicle market. The new and used auto/truck market segment was identified in the Company's strategy as a key market for growth. The OnGuard Team, with extensive experience in the car and truck dealership markets will increase the market penetration of RPM in both these segments. According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, there are over 21,200 new car dealerships in the U.S. Also, year-in and year- out, over 40 million used vehicles are retailed. It is a tremendous growth opportunity for us."

Stephen Stack, CEO of OnGuard is a veteran of the automobile industry having held executive operations, sales and finance positions with companies like GMAC, Alamo Rent A Car and AutoTrader.com . "The product solves a number of problems for consumers and new car dealers alike," stated Stack. "For the consumer it prolongs battery life and eliminates the possibility of a dead battery and the inconvenience of being stranded. The theft prevention component adds an additional level of vehicle security, and the elimination of the risk of being stranded by a dead battery provides an additional level of personal security as well. Furthermore, dealers can easily install these units on their entire inventory of new and used cars and trucks to finally eliminate the labor and fuel costs associated with battery maintenance on their expansive lots and the associated headaches and risks with battery chargers, jump-starting vehicles, and running car engines to engage the alternators to keep the batteries charged."

Stack continued, "Today, the amount of onboard electronics greatly diminish the life of a battery and for these reasons and more this is a true value proposition for customers and dealers alike. Our Reserve Power Module produces real cost savings for dealers in the maintenance of their inventories, eliminates lost sales from dead batteries and creates significant additional revenue opportunities. Longer battery life also equates to a reduction in the harmful environmental consequences of lead pollution which results from the disposal of batteries. Our very favorable cost/benefit proposition for both dealers and consumers is the most exciting aspect of this much needed and unique patented product."

How RPM Works

RPM prevents a dead battery by using the latest micro-electronics to continually monitor the battery's charge and isolates it from any possible energy drainage, ensuring enough charge is reserved to start the engine. If the RPM detects accessories accidentally left running (lights, video games, mobile entertainment systems, powered coolers, etc.) it will disconnect the battery to prevent further voltage loss. When the operator returns, all he or she has to do is simply push the reset switch to reconnect the battery and start the vehicle. The product also has a valuable theft prevention component.
