Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia Begins April 5

- Subaru Celebrates Japanese Heritage During Festival -

CHERRY HILL, N.J., March 25 -- Subaru of America, Inc. is returning for the fifth year as title sponsor of the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, taking place in Philadelphia from April 5-19.

Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Subaru of America said: "we are delighted to return for a fifth time as title sponsor of this event in our Delaware Valley home. Subaru owners have a great affinity for the outdoors and the environment and so the Cherry Blossom Festival is also a great way for us to celebrate that relationship"

The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia celebrates the turn of the season and the friendship between Philadelphia and Japan with two weeks of Japanese music, art, food and fun. Festival events include:

     Registration required. Tickets are $295.

  -- Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival Sidewalk Parade
     Avenue of the Arts and City Hall Courtyard, Philadelphia
     Monday, April 7, 4:30-6:30p.m.
     Free admission

  -- Sake Fest 2008
     Loews Philadelphia Hotel, Philadelphia
     Wednesday, April 9, 6-8:30p.m.
     Tickets are $55 in advance and $65 at the door.

  -- Madame Saito's Sushi Making Class
     Le Champignon de Tokio, Philadelphia
     April 11 & 12, 6:30p.m.
     Cost is $30 and includes all materials

  -- Sakura Sunday
     Horticulture Center, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
     Sunday, April 13, 11:30a.m.-4p.m.
     Free admission

  -- Dine Out Japan
     Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 18
     20 percent discount to diners at participating Japanese restaurants in
     Philadelphia, including Fuji Mountain, Genji and Shiroi Hana.

  -- Local Japanese Artists Showcase: Beyond Superflat
     Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia
     Friday, April 18, 5:30p.m.
     Free with admission. Registration required.

  -- Nodate Tea Ceremony
     Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, Philadelphia
     Saturday, April 19, 1p.m. & 2:30p.m.
     Cost is $25 for Shofuso members and $28 for non-members. Registration
     required.
