Senior Management changes at Nissan Europe

ROLLE, SWITZERLAND - Nissan International SA today announced several key changes to its European senior management, effective from April 1, 2008.

Brian Carolin, currently Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, Nissan International SA, is appointed Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, Nissan North America.

In order to support the complexity of the business in Nissan’s European markets, starting April 1 the management of the company’s sales operations will be shared by two senior vice president positions: one focusing on Eastern Europe and another focusing on Western Europe. The organisation of the sales and marketing support functions will remain unchanged and will support both the Eastern Europe and Western Europe sales operations.

Simon Thomas, currently Vice President Sales Operations, Nissan International SA, is promoted to Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing and Western Europe Sales Operations. Markets reporting directly to Thomas include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the following independent markets: Ireland, Greece, Iceland, Malta, Cyprus, and FOT (French Overseas Territories). All central European sales & marketing functions will also report directly to Simon Thomas, but will support both Eastern and Western Europe operational teams.

Simon Thomas

Thomas joined Nissan in 1991, where he has held several key positions in sales, dealer network management and marketing in the UK. He served as a Director for Nissan in the UK from 2000 to 2006 in both sales and marketing positions. From 2006-2007, he took the position of Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Nissan Canada. He has been in his current position since April 2007.

Toru Saito, currently Managing Director Regional Business Unit (RBU) East, which is comprised of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, is promoted to a newly created position entitled Senior Vice President Eastern Europe Sales Operations, Nissan International SA. This new position will cover markets including Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belarus, Romania, Moldavia, Turkey, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania and Israel in order to reinforce and support Nissan’s growing business in those markets. Over the past five years Nissan has experienced extraordinary growth in the Eastern European markets, moving from 41,774 vehicles sold per year in 2002 to 182,506 per year in 2007.

Saito joined Nissan in 1982 and has a wealth of experience ranging from press relations to corporate affairs to sales operations. From 1997 to 2003, he served as Sales Manager in the Middle East for Mediterranean markets, GCC Markets and Saudi Arabia. Since 2003, he has served as Managing Director for RBU East.

Both Simon Thomas and Toru Saito will be based in Rolle, Switzerland and will report to Hidetoshi Imazu, Executive Vice President, Chairman, Management Committee Europe.

Sales and Marketing

Nissan International S.A François Goupil De Bouillé, currently Managing Director Nissan Sales Central & Eastern Europe is appointed Vice President Sales Operations. He will be based in Rolle and will report to Simon Thomas, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing and Western Europe Sales Operation.

François Goupil de Bouillé’s replacement will be announced later. Please note that from April 1, the Managing Director of Regional Business Unit CEE (Czech, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia), will directly report to Toru Saito Senior Vice President Eastern Europe Sales Operation.

RBU East Takuji Fujji, currently Vice President Corporate Planning & OPD Coordination is appointed Managing Director RBU East. He will report to Toru Saito, Senior Vice President Eastern Europe Sales Operations.

Nissan Nordic Europe Oy Taro Nakayama, currently Senior Manager Corporate Planning Department in NML is appointed Managing Director Nissan Nordic Europe Oy, to replace Mike Whitfield who is appointed Managing Director Nissan South Africa. He will report to Simon Thomas, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing and Western Europe Sales Operations.

Administration & Finance

Corporate Planning Hitoshi Mano, currently Senior Manager Corporate Planning Department in NML is appointed Vice President Corporate Planning & OPD Coordination to replace Takuji Fujii. He will be based in Rolle and will report to Eric Nicolas, Senior Vice President Administration & Finance, Nissan International SA.

Manufacturing, Purchasing, SCM & PE

Production & Quality Engineering Colin Lawther, currently General Manager Production Engineering is promoted to Vice President Production Engineering & Quality Engineering NE to replace Masayoshi Takano who is returning to NML. He will be based in Rolle and will report to Trevor Mann, Senior Vice President Manufacturing, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management & Production Engineering, Nissan International SA.

Research & Development

Powertrain Engineering Sadayuki Yonetamari, currently Chief Powertrain Engineer in NML is appointed Vice President Powertrain, Design and Development to replace Junichi Ohori who is returning to NML. He will be based in NTCE Barcelona and will report to Hideto Murakami, Senior Vice President Research & Development, Nissan International SA.

Total Customer Satisfaction Hisao Okawa, currently General Manager Powertrain Product Development is appointed Vice President Total Customer Satisfaction to replace Masaru Tamura who is returning to NML. He will be based in Rolle and will report to Hideto Murakami, Senior Vice President Research & Development, Nissan International SA.
