Skip Barber Series - A Win for Vincec
After some disappointment on Saturday, Mike would come back big and take the win in today's race. He would do this starting from the P9 position in a race that featured both Championship and Sportsman classes on track together. Mike would also score the fastest lap of the race, setting a new track record* in the process. (*based on current track configuration) Saturday had started with promise with Mike lining up off-pole and running second through to lap twelve when a brisk wind sent some desert dust across the track. Running through the dirt took away any grip and Mike would drop two wheels and lose positions. He would end the day P6 in his class and P9 overall to determine his start for Sunday. "We are really pleased to come away from Las Vegas with a win." Mike commented. "We have been working towards this since the first race when we had two podiums that weekend. It is great to finally put a win in the books for Sunoco Team Ultra 94. I have to thank Ron Fellows, Brad Brown and Paul Cooke for all their support." Mike continued, "Now we look ahead to Sebring in a few weeks for the final race in the series. Let's hope we can end the series with another trip to the podium." With the win on Sunday and sixth-place on Saturday, Mike has added 95 points to take a strong hold on second place in the Southern Region championship. The series finale takes place at Sebring, March 20 & 30.
