Wood Brothers Racing is looking forward to Bill Elliott returning to the #21 car this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Elliott is not only returning to the Little Debbie Nutty Bars® Ford Fusion, he’s going back to his home track a short distance from the small town where his racing career first began in Dawsonville, GA.

Elliott’s career accomplishments at Atlanta Motor Speedway include over 1,024 laps led, five wins and 19 top 10’s. In 2007, he had a solid 18th place finish in the Wood Brothers no. 21 Little Debbie Ford Fusion. Elliott said, "I love this track and I’m hoping to help this team get the car fielded so we can race this weekend. It’s a tough situation, but we’ll get it. He added, "A friend of mine once told me, it’s not how many times you get knocked down; it’s how many times you get back up that count."

With those words of encouragement, the team is working hard to turn the program around. Their efforts in practice on Friday afternoon will be solely on qualifying as they are optimistic that the new qualifying procedures will work in their favor. Crew Chief Gene Nead comments on the new procedures and how the track temperature and qualifying position are critical.

Nead said, "I think it’s a good thing. It puts everyone on the same playing field. For example, track temperature is a major deal, if qualifying starts at 6:45pm, and it takes an hour and a half, that’s a big advantage for someone going at the end of the line than at the beginning. Now we’re all going at the end, so we’re even."

With the playing field seemingly more even, the Wood Brothers Racing team will strive to be competitive and qualify for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 on Sunday, March 9th at 2:00 pm EST.
