Renault chooses Allison for extreme construction vehicles
Allison Transmission, a worldwide provider of commercial duty automatic transmissions for on- and off-road applications has been chosen by Renault Trucks to provide its most advanced transmission system for a customer in the global oil industry. Allison's 4000 Series automatic transmission will be fitted to Renault's Kerax Trucks for construction sites all over the world, both off-road and on.
This latest collaboration further strengthens Allison's relationship with Renault Trucks, a partnership that brings Allison reliability, durability and comfort to ever growing numbers of Renault truck drivers. The 4000 Series, part of Allison's committment to off-road applications, is a next generation transmission system, offering advanced electronic controls to maximise vehicle performance in even the toughest environmental and ground conditions. Greater horsepower and torque ratings make Allison fitted trucks even more productive and easier to drive.
The integration of Allison's Series 4000 transmissions with Kerax trucks, including 6x2, 6x4 and 6x6 models will create a comprehensive range of high performance construction trucks for Renault, which already offers Allison's 3200V gearbox in its new Lander construction vehicles. "Driven by customer demand, our partnership with Allison allows us to offer a choice of high performance transmission systems," says Peter Kurej, marketing manager for Renault Trucks' construction range. "This particular customer has been using Allison automatics for a long time, and it's great to be able to offer the 4000 Series for this latest order. Increasingly, our customers are asking for the kinds of performance enhancements that automatics can offer, and with Allison we know we offer the best solution."
Allison's growing presence in the global construction industry reflects increasing pressure among those involved to reduce down time, increase vehicle efficiency and improve profit margins. Trucks fitted with Allison automatics complete journey times faster, require less maintenance and repair, and can achieve higher overall efficiency. "Our OEM partners like Renault are increasingly aware that automatic transmissions offer the kind of performance and financial benefits their customers are looking for," says Allison Transmissions' Southern Europe area manager Sergio Camolese. "This latest collaboration with Renault demonstrates the need for performance transmissions that can cope with diverse ground conditions - delivering reliability, durability and ease of use to drivers across the globe."
