NavStar Technologies Reveals Details of Unique Itinerary Feature
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--NavStar Technologies (Pink Sheets:NVST) announced today the first of many new and unique features that will be introduced as they launch their integrated all-in-one Voice Navigator™. By combining hands-free calling with GPS navigation capability, the Voice Navigator™ allows the user to make a call or to request a route with voice commands rather than inputting their request by touching a screen and taking their eyes off the road. The cutting edge functionality will transform GPS navigation and hands-free calling into an affordable, safe and easy to use experience.
The product concept is very simple. Customers will use their Bluetooth handset to call the NavStar server and with their voice provide a limited amount of information to their destination. A route will be downloaded to the NavStar device and turn-by-turn directions will be provided to the user’s destination. Once the route is downloaded to the NavStar device, the handset is available to make calls in a hands-free mode.
Itinerary Feature
Because of the unique product design concept, users will also have the option of accessing the NavStar Technologies website to “pre load” their complete itinerary (multiple locations) and then download turn-by-turn directions to their destinations by simply touching a button.
“Think of a business traveler who is going to San Diego and has pre loaded their itinerary at our website. With the ‘touch of a button’ we will provide turn-by-turn directions from the airport to their business meeting, from the meeting to their hotel, from the hotel to their dinner meeting, back to the hotel and back to the airport the next day,” said N. Douglas Pritt, NavStar Technologies president and CEO. “Expand your thinking to potential commercial applications for the hundreds of thousands of people who hit the road everyday who have to make multiple stops either making deliveries or service calls.”
Referring to the Voice Navigator, Kevin Rich, Regional Director of Visiting Nurses Association stated, “There are over one million home health care nurses that must travel to 5 or 6 different locations each day to give home physicals or to check on patients. This type of service could easily improve there productivity by 20%. The gas saving from not getting lost would pay for the cost of the product in the first 30 days.”
The product is expected to be available in early 3rd quarter 2008 and has a target price of below $150. For more information on the new Voice Navigator go to the NavStar Technologies website at www.navstarinc.com.
