FAST CHALLENGE AHEAD FOR AMBROSE IN ATLANTA

Marcos Ambrose will be looking to convert his solid car speed into a strong result in the Nicorette 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia this weekend.

Atlanta is the sort of track that the drivers like to ‘sink their teeth into’, with a fast layout and a surface that produces sufficient grip for two and even three-wide racing.

Atlanta holds the enviable honour of hosting three of the top 12 closest finishes in NASCAR since electronic timing was introduced, giving an indication of just how tough and close the battle for victory usually is at the 1.5-mile oval.

After posting the seventh fastest time in qualifying for the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend, Ambrose is keen to show similar pace this weekend in Atlanta in the #59 Kingsford Hickory Ford Fusion.

A little bit of good luck is all that is required for the Australian driver to capitalise on the potential shown so far this season and post a good result and the fast banks of Atlanta are just the place for Ambrose to make a jump up the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings.

“Atlanta is a great track for racing and very fast,” said Ambrose.

“You can run down on the bottom or find a groove higher on the race track. It is a real buzz to race at a track where you can move up to the top or down to the bottom to pass cars, so it really pays to have your car working well because if you have the set-up right you can really do well.

“We showed in Las Vegas that the speed is there. We’ve all put our heads together this week and put a lot of effort and thought into this weekend in Atlanta, because we really want to show what we are capable of and give something to Kingsford, all our great sponsors and all our fans out there.”
