Chicago-Area Resident Wins $10,000 in Free Shell Gasoline
HOUSTON, March 3 -- Cindy Sykora of Palos Heights, IL, a suburb of Chicago, won $10,000 in free Shell gasoline from Shell Oil Products US (Shell) in a sweepstakes at the recent Chicago Auto Show. Shell held the event as part of its sponsorship of the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, where the company also supported the black tie preview party and had a large booth presence to showcase the Passionate Expert marketing campaign proving that there is a difference in the gasoline drivers choose.
Fifteen of the twenty-one finalists gathered at the Shell exhibit booth during the show's closing weekend to see who would be the winner -- each drew a Shell gas card and then inserted it into the credit card reader of the display gas pump in hopes it would activate the pump. Sykora was the last finalist to insert her card into the reader so the excitement in the air was palpable. When asked afterward what she planned to do with her winnings, she explained that she has children in college who would be happy to share the prize. The delighted winner also said that she had picked up her entry at a Shell station in her hometown at 83rd Street and Ridgeland in Palos Heights.
The other $10,000 Shell Gas Giveaway finalists in attendance also walked away happy -- each was also given a $100 Shell gasoline gift card after the sweepstakes ended. In addition to Chicago, the other finalists were from nearby Illinois cities including Des Plaines, Oak Park, Rolling Meadows, Tinley Park, Wheaton, Cary, Arlington Heights, Berwyn, Fox Lake, Mokena and Bolingbrook.
