SAVE-A-LOT TO SPONSOR CHAMPION CARL EDWARDS IN NATIONWIDE SERIES

Roush Fenway Racing announced today that Save-A-Lot Food Stores has signed on as the primary sponsor for Carl Edwards and the No. 60 Ford for 12 races in the Nationwide Series in 2008. The Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will mark the first race for Save-A-Lot as the primary sponsor. Edwards, from Columbia, Mo., is looking forward to partnering with the Missouri-based company.

Edwards, the 2007 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, is off to a solid start in 2008 claiming a 10th place finish at Daytona and a fifth place finish at last week’s rain-delayed California race. Edwards currently sits third in the overall point standings, just 96 points back from leader Tony Stewart. This weekend’s race marks Edwards fourth start at the 1.5-mile oval. Edwards has lead 131 laps and won the pole there in 2007. His average starting position is 8.6 and his average finishing position is 6, never finishing outside the top-10 in all three Nationwide starts. It’s a track that Edwards enjoys driving and is looking forward to tackling in the No. 60 Save-A-Lot Ford.

“I can’t wait to go back to Las Vegas.” Edwards continued, “It’s a great 1.5-mile track with a fairly new surface. We had an okay test, but only got about a half a day in the car. We aren’t sure what to expect. Pierre Kuettel, my crew chief, will come up with a great strategy and we should have our Save-A-Lot Ford Fusion running up front. I can’t wait!”

The NASCAR Nationwide Series race will air live this Saturday, March 1 on ESPN2 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
