White-Knuckled Pre-Race Entertainment On-Tap as Aflac Pre-Race Show for Kobalt Tools 500
Aflac, a worldwide supplemental healthcare insurance provider, will present a high-octane pre-race show to fans in attendance at the Kobalt Tools 500 Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Aflac Pre-Race Show will feature skydiving, a car chase and wreck and hit artists during the March 9 event.
Selected through an online promotion, a contest winner will help kick off the Aflac Pre-Race Show with a tandem skydiving jump over the racetrack and onto the AMS infield.
Following that spectacle, up-and-coming country music star and Arista recording artist Jason Michael Carroll will perform a concert at the finish line, just moments before 43 NASCAR stars take the green flag for the weekend’s main event. The 28-year-old North Carolina native was named Billboard’s “Top New Country Artist of 2007.”
Just prior to the start of the Kobalt Tools 500, John Schneider, who played Bo Duke on the 1980’s hit TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard,” will parade the world-famous General Lee around the high banks of AMS, with the Hazzard County Sheriff’s Office in hot pursuit. The two will be involved in an intense, high speed car chase that is likely to result in extreme car-flipping carnage.
Local and National Acts to Perform National Anthems Throughout Race Weekend
The National Anthem for Friday’s American Commercial Lines 200 Craftsman Truck event will be performed by Hampton, Ga.’s Chelsie Boyd, a 15-year-old contemporary Christian music artist.
Nashville, Tenn.’s TelluRide Band, will sing the National Anthem preceding the Nicorette 300 Nationwide Series event on Saturday afternoon, March 8. Their list of accomplishments includes opening for Gretchen Wilson and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Four U.S. Marine Corps F-18’s will cap TelluRide’s performance with an awe-inspiring flyover.
The weekend’s main event, Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 Sprint Cup race, will be jump-started by Jason Michael Carroll’s stirring rendition of the National Anthem and four screaming Air Force A-10 Warthog jets, soaring across the AMS infield.
