  • NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2008) – Bridgestone-brand Potenza™ ultra high performance tires are original equipment on the all-new 2008 Pontiac G8 performance sedan.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires in size 245/45R18 96V are optional on the base model 2008 Pontiac G8 Sedan and standard on the sportier G8 GT Sedan. Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) is also supplying an optional 245/40R19 94W Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tire for the G8 GT.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE050A is original equipment on many high performance vehicles and comes loaded with race-inspired technology. The tire’s asymmetrical tread pattern increases surface contact with the road to enhance acceleration and cornering; its design also promotes rapid water evacuation for excellent traction on wet roads.

“Based on the market Pontiac was targeting, as well as the performance level of the vehicle, we knew that our Potenza RE050A would be a perfect match,” said Michael Martini, President, Consumer OE Tire Sales, BFNT. “We feel this tire, as a premium Bridgestone-brand product, will exceed the expectations of G8 owners.”

The all-new Pontiac G8 features a standard 256 horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine and automatic five-speed transmission. A 361 horsepower, 6.0-liter V8 propels the performance-tuned G8 GT, which also boasts quad polished stainless steel exhaust tips and a six-speed automatic transmission. Both models will be available in Pontiac dealerships in March 2008.

Many current General Motors vehicles come standard with Bridgestone-brand tires, including three additional Pontiac models – the G6, Torrent and VIBE.
