McMurray on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: "After our test session a few weeks ago at Vegas, I’m really looking forward to the race next weekend. We had a really long weekend in Fontana, both with the rain and our finish, but I really feel we will have a better run this coming weekend. Last year we didn’t have the best qualifying at Las Vegas, but Larry (Carter) and Derek (Stamets) made a lot of adjustments during the race that really made the car handle well and I was able to race up through the pack.
“I know our engineering department has come a really long way with this COT. After our teammate won last weekend at Fontana, it just goes to show how far along Roush Fenway has come with the new car. At the end of last year, I really feel like we started to hit our stride with the new car, and this season, I know that will continue. We didn’t have the best run last week at Fontana, and I know all the guys on the team are looking for a solid run to start the season off with.”
Crew Chief Larry Carter on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: “After they reconfigured the Vegas track a couple of years ago, it has really made the track a very technical track to get around. The car enters the corner at such a high speed due to the new banking the track has installed. During our test session, the Crown Royal team was very impressed with how we ran and are looking forward to returning this weekend. I think we made a lot of positive gains on the track with our new car. The car we are taking this weekend has never raced, but was the car we took to the test session a few weeks ago. Hopefully, we’ll be to keep our nose clean and have a good run for the Crown Royal team in Las Vegas.”
