NASCAR DRIVER KERTUS DAVIS HEADED TO CALIFORNIA AFTER DAYTONA SUCCESS
JD Motorsports and Drivers Turn Lemons to Lemonade Heading For Sunshine State
NASCAR Nationwide series driver Kertus Davis is ready to race California Speedway in Saturday’s Stater Brothers 300. “It was a thrill to honor Stephen Pyle in front of millions of fans to show our gratitude for his brave service to our country” says Davis. Pyle was introduced with the driver in front of thousands of fans at Daytona, given a grand tour, introduced to the NASCAR officials, deemed Honorary Team Member for the weekend and attended the drivers meeting Saturday.
“Davis in the “0” car and Dwayne Leik in the “01” car did well in practice and qualifying and I’m proud of our overall performance as a team. We are very impressed with Leik who turned some great laps. His wealth of experience and maturity is a great asset to our team”, commented team owner Lori Morgan. Davis qualified to race, but the “0” car was soon disqualified for a missing bolt on the fuel cell resulting in fines, point deductions and a temporary crew chief suspension. This pushed the “01” car to qualifying position. The team agreed that Davis would race the qualifying car. He completed 118 laps with a solid car. “We turned a misfortune into an excellent opportunity at Daytona this past weekend” commented Davis.
“I’m excited to head to California. I love the people and the culture. I love racing the track”, said Davis who has had six starts at California Speedway. Davis adds, “The track has a multi-groove which allows me to adapt to the track throughout the race”. The team aims to work on race setups, set a good qualifying spot and have a great weekend as they make a climb towards the top 30 which will guarantee starts for the future.
