ASG Racing - Trophylite Racing at Primm

ASG Racing Airs It Out at Primm

Santa Rosa Valley, CA (February 22, 2008) ? ASB Racing was one of the
eight Trophylite competitors to take the green flag at the ?Battle of
Primm?, hosted by SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts). The
first event of the 2008 KMC Wheels Trophylite Race Series presented by
KC Hilites saw competitors run four laps around a thirteen mile long
desert course, once on Saturday, and again on Sunday. The combined
times of the two races would determine the finishing order.

Saturday saw Matt Armstrong behind the wheel, with Shane Scully riding
shotgun. Matt drove a great race, led much of the way, only to run out
of fuel about a mile and half from the finish. This happened to five
other trucks in the class as well. By the time the truck was
refueled, the time allotted for the class has expired. This resulted
in a DNF. One consolation to the team was the fact that Matt turned
the fastest lap of the class, ahead of the likes of Ricky Johnson and
eventual winners Logan Knecht and Billy Worthing.

Sunday the team put Shane Scully behind the controls with Josh
Baltimore as navigator. Shane literally had the #6065 Trophylite
flying. There was a nice high speed jump near the start finish line
that Shane hit at nearly 80mph causing the truck to fly almost a
hundred feet before landing (see photo). Unfortunately it was a little
too much for the truck as the left front control arm broke midway
through the second lap. The caused the truck to roll over going
through a slow corner. It resulted in the second DNF of the weekend.

Even though ASG Racing came home with a DNF, the weekend was
considered a big success. The drivers got some good seat time with the
truck and the crew learned more about the tuning of the chassis and
suspension.

?This weekend was great experience for ASG Racing,? commented Josh
Baltimore. ?We will be better prepared at Parker. I know there will be
twice as many trucks at the next race. The past weekend helped us get
us to the leading edge of the learning curve. Look for ASB Racing to
land on the podium in Arizona.?

The next race on the Trophylite schedule is May 16-18, the Blue Water
Grand Prix, in Parker, Arizona.
