SPECIAL EVENT (Worlington, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk) - MALLOCK ANNOUNCES 50th ANNIVERSARY
![]() |
2008 will be the 50th Anniversary of this unique and famous marque, the founder, Major Arthur Mallock, having sold the first customer Mallock U2 in 1958.
This landmark confirms the Mallock marque as the longest-surviving racing car manufacturer in continuous production in the United Kingdom under the same family ownership.
This is a remarkable achievement in one of the most financially volatile and unpredictable business sectors in the world.
FESTIVAL BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary, Mallock cars will provide the main events and focus of the 750 Motor Club Festival Weekend on 23/24 August at Silverstone. These will include a static display, a Mallock "allcomers" race on Saturday and a Grand Parade of Mallock cars past and present on Sunday morning.
The main event on Sunday will be The Mallock Gold Cup, a handicap race open to any Mallock car, from an original Mk.2 to the current Mk.35 "Synergy" Clubmans formula car.
Richard and Ray Mallock, sons of the founder, are making a special plea to all Mallock owners, including hillclimb and sprint cars, to bring their cars to Silverstone to race or display.
"The 750 Club has had strong links with Mallock for over 50 years," says Richard, who currently heads U2 production and sales.
"A magnificent celebration meeting for Arthur's 75th birthday was run in 1993 and we would dearly love to surpass that large turn-out in August."
Records show that a very high percentage of the 400-to-500 cars produced are still in existence and many are still competing and winning on a regular basis.
If you own a Mallock and would like to support what Arthur Mallock and his sons have created over 50 years for the enjoyment of the club competitor, by racing or displaying your car, please email Peter Burnham at peterburnham@dsl.pipex.com.
