TEAM REPORTS (FONTANA, CA.) - ROUSH/FENWAY - JAMIE MCMURRAY PRE-CALIFORNIA NOTES

FAST FACTS: * Statistically speaking, California Speedway is Jamie McMurray’s best track on the Sprint Cup circuit. * In nine career Sprint Cup starts at the two-mile speedway, McMurray has five top-10 finishes, including three top-five finishes. * McMurray has a career starting position average of 27.1 and an average finishing position of 12.8 at California Speedway. * McMurray will pilot the No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion for the first time this season. This will be McMurray’s first time in 2008 back in his Crown Royal purple and gold paint scheme. * The No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion will run a special decal on the rear quarter panel this weekend in support of “Dress for Success,” which is a program to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

McMurray on racing at California Speedway: "The No. 26 Crown Royal team had a really good test session at California Speedway last month when we all came out here, and actually, all of the Roush Fenway cars tested really well. After every test session for the most part, teams come back a little bit stronger than what they were at the test, hopefully that will hold true for us as well. Traditionally, Roush Fenway has been the dominate team when it comes to the intermediate tracks. Jack and all of the engineers back at the shop have really figured something out when it comes to the 1.5 to two-mile tracks.

“They tell me that California Speedway is statistically my best track on the circuit, but you can’t always go on statistics. I don’t know what it is about this speedway, but it’s one that I really enjoy coming to. California Speedway is more of a driver’s track where you as the driver can really dictate your times by which line you choose on the race track. Sometimes the high line works better and as the track changes, it could move to the middle or bottom groove, just depending on how your car seems to handle. That’s really what makes California a fun track to race on.”

Crew Chief Larry Carter on racing at California Speedway: “This is the first time we will see the new car and how it reacts on an intermediate race track. Last season we tested at a couple, but we were never able to see what it’s like when you have all 43 cars on the track. After our test session last month at California Speedway, I know we are all looking forward to returning there this weekend. All of the Roush Fenway cars seemed to run really well overall at both Fontana and Vegas. Hopefully, we’ll be able to replicate that this weekend with a good race. We are taking a brand new chassis this weekend – it’s never been raced or tested, but we feel it’s going to be a strong car. We were able to gather a lot of data from the test that transferred right into our new car for this weekend’s race.”
