Underserved Women and Children in Oakland County Get Big Boost for Free Health Care from Chrysler 300C Lease Giveaway
Luxurious 2008 Chrysler 300C Raffle Winner Pam Willis Announced at Jan. 31st Reception at POH Regional Medical Center
Donation By Chrysler Jeep Superstores Helps POH Riley Foundation Break Record for Dollars Raised
PONTIAC, Mich., Feb. 13 -- Underserved women and children in Oakland County received a nearly $16,000 boost in receiving free health care services such as mammogram screenings and regular pediatrician check-ups thanks to a generous donation of a two-year lease for a Chrysler 300C to the POH Riley Foundation from Chrysler Jeep Superstores.
Pam Willis, a 29-year employee of POH Regional Medical Center in Pontiac and a Clarkston resident, drew the winning ticket for the two-year 300C lease at the Jan. 31st Donor's Reception held in the POH lobby. Willis will receive the 300C from Chrysler Jeep Superstores Thursday, February 14th.
The offering of the luxurious 300C helped to bring excitement and awareness to the POH Riley Foundation's event and mission, said Teresa Rodges, executive director of the Riley Foundation.
"We're very grateful to the Chrysler Jeep Superstores for their generous donation of a two-year lease," Rodges said. "The addition of such a large giveaway really generated tremendous attention for the Foundation and its work. This year, we were able to easily top last year's total amount raised by more than $30,000. The Chrysler 300C played a huge part in that."
Chrysler Jeep Superstores was a presenting sponsor of the Foundation's 5th Annual Black-Tie Gala held Nov. 17th at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, where the 300C lease offering was initially unveiled.
Raffle ticket sales by people vying to be the lucky winner of the two-year lease reached nearly $16,000 by the Jan. 31st reception, Rodges said. The POH Riley Foundation unveiled Chrysler Jeep Superstores names, along with 49 other individuals and organizations whose donations have helped the Foundation achieve its mission, on its "Wall of Honor" in the POH lobby at the reception.
The POH Riley Foundation helps provide free health care services through the POH Regional Medical Center to women and children who otherwise would not be able to afford them. The Riley Foundation's Black-Tie Gala raised about $180,000 in 2007 and nearly $600,000 during the past five years.
"We're thrilled to have made such a significant contribution to the POH Riley Foundation's important work," said Jim Schebil, president of the Chrysler Jeep Superstores Advertising Association, a group of 39 independently owned Chrysler Jeep Superstores in Southeast Michigan from Monroe to Fowlerville and from Clinton Township to Port Huron. "No child should go without the basic health care services that many of us take for granted. That this donation helps women and children in our backyard is even more important to us, particularly during these difficult economic times.
"All of our member stores have a strong history of hometown community involvement. This campaign is a natural extension of that in the metro region," Schebil said.
