Yates Racing announced today that K&N Engineering, Inc., the world’s leader in performance filter technology, will sponsor the No. 28 entry with driver Travis Kvapil for the 50th running of the Daytona 500 on February 17th.

Kvapil and K&N Engineering, Inc. have shared sponsorship in the past when K&N served as the primary sponsor of Kvapil’s No. 6 Ford in the 2007 Craftsman Truck Series. During the 2007 season, Kvapil claimed four wins, started on the pole for three races and secured twelve top-10 finishes. Kvapil had an average starting position of 6.8 and an average finish of 10.4 in the 2007 Truck Series.

“I’m very excited to have K&N as the sponsor of our No. 28 Ford Fusion,” stated Kvapil. “K&N helped my tuck team out last season and they’re a great sponsor. I’m really looking forward to making them proud for the Daytona 500 next weekend. They believe in what our team has in store for this season, and it’s just a thrill to have them associated with us for the biggest race of the year.”

"K&N Engineering is starting the 2nd season with Travis Kvapil,” said Charles Maier, Sports Marketing Director of K&N Engineering, Inc. “At the 2007 Daytona Truck race, hundreds of companies missed the opportunity to have their brand run with Travis. K&N was at the right place at right time to get that opportunity and Travis gave our company, racing that was nothing short of spectacular. Here we are one year later as Travis begins the 2008 Cup season with Yates Racing. While we are a small company in the world of Cup racing; we are making efforts to help drivers and teams get off on the right foot. We wish the entire team at Yates the success they deserve… Go Travis!"

The season opener for Yates Racing and Kvapil will be the 50th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 17, 2008. Qualifying for the Daytona 500 will take place on Sunday, February 10th as Kvapil and K&N Engineering, Inc. present the return of the legendary No. 28 Ford Fusion to the Sprint Cup Series.

“Yates Racing is excited to have K&N Engineering as the primary sponsor of the No. 28 Ford Fusion for the Daytona 500,” commented car owner Doug Yates. “K&N served as the primary sponsor for Travis (Kvapil) last season in the Truck Series and we’re so happy to have them with us to start off the 2008 season. We have worked hand-in-hand with them in our Roush-Yates engine department so we have a history together and we are very happy to have them on board as the sponsor of the No. 28 team.”
