TEAM REPORTS (POMONA, CA.) - TODD HAPPY WITH FRIDAY'S RUN
J.R. Todd and his John Stewart-led Torco/Lucas Oil team rebounded from ricocheting off the retaining wall yesterday in the NHRA Top Fuel qualifying at the Pomona Raceway at over 295 mph to manufacture a new car overnight that performed flawlessly in today’s time trials resulting with a time of 4.570 seconds at a speed of 327.74 mph, putting him in the No. 12 position in the competitive lineup.
“I’m just happy to be at the track running, let alone in the show,” said a relieved Todd. “That’s a good run for us with fresh pipe despite no runs or testing on it. It just goes to show you how hard our Morgan Lucas Racing teams work together with us having a great bunch of guys on both race cars. I can’t thank Forrest and Charlotte (Lucas) enough for giving me the chance to do this. Hopefully, we can make them proud again.”
Todd has two more Top Fuel qualifying attempts on Saturday starting at 12 noon and 3:30 p.m. PST.
