Kentucky Speedway announces that PepsiAmericas, Inc. will serve as the official soft drink sponsor for the Speedway’s 2008 season, which begins May 10 with the ARCA RE/MAX Series “Drive Smart. Buckle Up Kentucky 150.”

“PepsiAmericas is active on every level of our sport, from the championship teams to the championship venues, and we’re delighted to welcome them to our corporate partner family,” Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis said. “Pepsi’s long-time involvement in motorsports, and its new association with Dale Earnhardt, Jr., through its Mountain Dew and AMP Energy Drink brands, will benefit our fans and our official retail partner, Meijer.”

Financial terms of the relationship were not disclosed. However, PepsiAmericas will receive exclusive on-site soft drink marketing and vending rights, facility and souvenir program advertising, display space, grandstand tickets, a luxury suite license and other promotional considerations under the terms of the agreement.

PepsiAmericas’ portfolio of products includes Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Mug Root Beer, SoBe Life Water, Aquafina, Lipton Iced Tea, AMP Energy Drink, Tropicana and Dole juice brands.

Brand Pepsi’s relationship with motorsports began nearly 100 years ago when racing pioneer and hall-of-famer Barney Oldfield became the first celebrity ever hired to endorse the popular soft drink in 1909. Pepsi is currently the primary sponsor of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon and will support the No. 88 Chevrolet driven by Gordon’s new teammate, Earnhardt, Jr., next season. The company also supports Sprint Cup road-course ace Boris Said through its SoBe brand.
