This week’s race truck for Daytona International Speedway is
Chassis No. 22-48. This is a new truck for Phillip McGilton and his No. 22
team. This truck should provide a lot of downforce for the 2.5 mile
track.
Newcomer … The 2008 season will be McGilton’s first
full NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. This weekend will also mark
McGilton’s first Truck Series start at Daytona. McGilton raced at
Daytona last year in an ARCA RE/MAX Series car and finished in the ninth
position.
Is this thing on? McGilton will join his Bill Davis Racing
teammates on the “PRN Fast Talk” radio show Monday, Feb. 11, at
6:15 p.m., in Volusia Mall, located directly across from Daytona
International Speedway.
Another McGilton… McGilton and his wife,
Mandi, are proud to announce the birth of their fourth child. The happy
couple welcomed Presley Jace McGilton into the world Jan. 30. She weighed
in at 8 lbs, 1 oz and was 20 inches long.
Tested and Approved…
McGilton and his BDR teammates tested at Daytona International Speedway
last month and ran quite well. McGilton ran extremely well during the
three-day test session and is ready for his NASCAR debut this weekend.
Listen and watch … The Chevy Silverado HD 250 is scheduled to start
at 8 p.m. EST Friday, Feb. 15. It will broadcast live on Speed Channel
(TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).
Phillip McGilton on racing at Daytona International Speedway:
“I am really looking forward to racing at Daytona. I am excited and anxious. We learned a lot from the test at Daytona in January and we definitely have some things to show them at the race on Friday night. Doug (Wolcott) and my guys have been working extremely hard over the last few months in trying to get everything ready and I can’t thank them and Bill Davis enough for giving me this opportunity.”
“I am a rookie in NASCAR, so I will be doing everything in my power to try and stay atop those crucial rookie standings. I think we have a good shot to win Rookie of the Year and finish in the top-10, so those are my top goals for this year.”
