After six races in the Skip Barber Southern Region Championship, Mike Vincec now sits in second place overall. The Sunoco Team Ultra 94 driver entered this past weekend's event at Homestead-Miami Speedway in third place and moved up the standings on the strength of two top-ten results on Saturday and Sunday.

Under clear skies on Saturday, Mike would start P8 and make a charge for the front moving to P4. Putting in some very fast laps, he was closing in on a shot at the podium when he went a bit too deep on one of the infield corners, out-braked himself and slid off into the gravel. By the time he rejoined he was down to eighth spot where he ended the race.

He would fare a bit better in the wet on Sunday and bring the car home to a fifth-place finish.

Mike now holds a 34-point advantage going into the next round which takes place at Sebring, February 16 -17.
