TEAM REPORTS (PHOENIX, AZ.) -TESTING RESULTS GIVE LUCAS AND TODD PROVIDE POSITIVE STANCE
The Morgan Lucas Racing teams with namesake driver, Morgan Lucas and his quite capable teammate, J.R. Todd continued their NHRA preseason testing on Monday at Firebird International Raceway and as the sun set in the west, they lit it up the sky with some great Top Fuel passes.
Todd, driving his Torco/Seelye Wright dragster, reeled off an excellent 4.557 elapsed time in his last pass of the day flashing past the finish line with a swift speed of 331.53, the second fastest of all competitors for the weekend.
“Yeah, that last pass was great and it ran a really fast speed,” said the speedy, Todd. “It just goes to show our team has really put some things together over the winter that could very well develop into some more wins this year. Our car is very consistent and the crew has worked very hard and with their support, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Lucas continued his process in development for his Lucas Oil racing team and was another great run on Monday, which was showing an identical pattern matching his Saturday pass of 4.548 seconds, 329.99 mph until his blower belt broke leaving him with a Monday best time of 4.775, 231.44 mph.
“Never have I felt so confident going into a racing season as from what we learned during this testing session this weekend,” said a happy Lucas. “We had some great runs going today which we saw from our data would have put us in the low 4.50 second range. We have both cars running up to our expectations and we couldn’t be any happier. The team wants have some more runs before starting the season, but I feel we’re on the right path and have a lot to look forward to when we get to Pomona.”
The team will remain in Phoenix for the remaining part of the week in trying different combinations to better prepare for the upcoming season.
