Toyota's Domestic Auto Sales Down 6.2 Pct in '07

Tokyo, Jan 28, 2008; Jiji Press reported that Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday its domestic automobile sales in 2007 dropped 6.2 pct from the previous year to 1,587,335 units.
Domestic production increased 0.8 pct to a record 4,226,137 units, while overseas production grew 10.5 pct to a record 4,308,553 units, the top Japanese automaker said.
Global production rose 5.5 pct to 8,534,690 units. Exports climbed 5.4 pct to 2,666,140 units, up for the sixth straight year.
Combined global vehicle production by the Toyota group, including output by subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd., rose 5.3 pct to 9,497,754 units.
In December alone, Toyota's domestic sales dropped 14.7 pct from a year before to 93,888 units.
Combined global vehicle production by the Toyota group increased 2.2 pct to 715,763 units.
