Driver News: Mike Vincec - Florida Winter Tour and Skip
Barber Series
Vincec covers the Sunshine State
Reigning SRFKC Triple Crown Champion to contend in DD2 and Pro Shifter Classes
January 07, 2008 - Stouffville, Â Ontario - The holiday season break is just what sixteen-year old Mike Vincec needed as he prepares for races in two series in Florida. First up is the Florida Winter Tour where Mike will run with his Cameron Motorsports National Team in Rotax DD2 and Pro Shifter classes on consecutive weekends at the Homestead-Miami kart track. He will round out the month with Sunoco Team Ultra 94 at the next race in the Skip Barber Southern Region series. This also takes place at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on the oval and road course.
Coming off a winning season in both Intercontinental C (ICC) and DD2, the Cameron Motorsports driver is looking to bring home a championship from the Florida Tour. "The Florida Winter Tour has always brought out very strong fields of the best drivers out there" offered Mike. "This year will be even better as DD2 will have a former F1 driver in the field. That should make the competition much more intense."
Mike will be heading to Homestead later this week (jan 8-10) for the first round of the tour which features Rotax DD2 as the premiere class. The following weekend (Jan 15-17) will feature the Pro Shifter ICC class.
Mike then changes hats - or helmets as it were, and takes on Homestead-Miami's famed "roval" in the Skip Barber Southern Region race series. The Sunoco Team Ultra 94 driver has two podiums so far in the series and currently sits third overall in the series championship. "It will be fun to get back into the car" said Mike. "We are hoping to make up some ground in the next race and close the gap in the championship. I am really looking forward to getting out there on the Homestead road course. I hear the oval section can be quite the thrill at full throttle."
Mike will have a weekend off before returning to the Florida Winter Tour followed a week later by the next round of the Skip Barber series. Details on those events will follow.
