RACING BUSINESS (DUBLIN, OH.) - THE MID-OHIO SCHOOL SEES CONTINUED SUCCESS IN 2007
THE MID-OHIO SCHOOL SEES CONTINUED SUCCESS IN 2007 HOLIDAY DISCOUNTS / 2008 CALENDAR NOW AVAILABLE The Mid-Ohio School, the comprehensive driving and riding instruction company based at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, had another successful season as the school graduated over 3,500 students, boasting its total number of graduates to nearly 27,000 since its inception in 1993.
The graduation numbers also reflect a record number of Acura High Performance Course students at 233. This course - the first rung on the school's High Performance Ladder Series - covers the physics and dynamics of driving, tests participants behind-the-wheel in intense off-track high performance drills, and culminates with an on-track lapping session.
To kick off the 2007 season, The Mid-Ohio School announced a multi-year partnership with Kumho Tire U.S.A, who as the official tire supplier, provided tires to outfit the entire fleet of vehicles. The Mid-Ohio School fleet includes Honda Civics, Acura TSX A-SPECs and Honda S2000 roadsters, and the cars were outfitted with Kumho SOLUS KH16 and ECSTA MX tires.
The Lexington, Ohio-based school hosted its first-ever Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program Open House in October; a program that was met with much success despite inclement weather conditions. Over 50 parents and teens attended the free Open House, which gave them a chance to experience a trial version of this life-saving program. All participants were able to experience first-hand the program's three core driving exercises: skid car, wet braking and emergency lane change, as well as interact with the school's staff of expert driving instructors.
Also this year, the Morrow County Juvenile Court began sending their most severe teenage traffic offenders to The Mid-Ohio School. This relationship is similar to a partnership already established between The Mid-Ohio School and the Knox County Juvenile Court, where teenage traffic offenders are mandated to attend the Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program in lieu of court costs. Knox County currently reports a 76% reduction in second-offense moving violations since the implementation of this program.
