SPECIAL EVENT (MOORSVILLE, NC.) - Theriault To Test At Daytona
With the hopes of competing in the 2008 ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway, Michelle Theriault is taking the first step toward achieving her goal by participating in the December 14-16 ARCA RE/MAX Series open test session at the famed 2.5 mile superspeedway. The 21-year-old Bristol, Conn. native will pilot the No. 68 Chevrolet fielded by the newly restructured Rick Markle Racing. “At this point my plans for 2008 are still undecided,” explained Theriault.
“My goal is to compete full-time in ARCA but without proper funding, it is proving to be extremely difficult. Rick and Del Markle have been longtime supporters of me and my career. They offered me the chance to test in one of their cars at Daytona and I jumped at the opportunity.” As a driver, Rick Markle made starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Craftsman Truck Series and in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series. Currently, he is focusing his attention on building his Rick Markle Racing team into a full-time competitor. “I really appreciate what the Markle’s and their entire organization have done for me. Right now, my plans for 2008 are wide open. If the Markle’s secure the funding to compete fulltime in 2008 I will certainly consider it. In the meantime, I’m entertaining all offers.”
In 2007, Theriault completed her rookie season in the NASCAR Busch East Series scoring two top 10 finishes in her first two starts and ended the season 13th in the championship. She also competed in six ARCA RE/MAX Series races.
