The Cuyahoga County DUI Task Force and Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital Unveil This Year's Hottest Gift: Designated Driver Action Figures

CLEVELAND, Dec. 13, 2007 -- What: The Cuyahoga County DUI Task Force and Rainbow Babies & Children's
Hospital, in partnership with MADD, the Greater Cleveland
Automobile Dealers' Association and Liberty Mutual Insurance, will
host a media event to announce a countywide crackdown on impaired
drivers and to unveil the season's hottest holiday gift idea:
         designated drivers.

To demonstrate that every one of us can be a superhero, average
folks will lead the call for all Greater Clevelanders to make
responsible choices this holiday season by taking their places in
life-size replicas of action figure packages. The designated
drivers will be unwrapped at the event to spotlight the need for
everyone in Cuyahoga County to keep their families and communities
safe from impaired drivers by serving as-or using-a designated
         driver.

Representatives of the Cuyahoga County DUI Task Force and Rainbow
Babies & Children's Hospital will be available for interviews
following the press event. Reporters are welcome to take their
place in a Designated Driver Action Hero box as they frame their
         stories.

  When: Noon, Monday, Dec. 17

Where: Tower City, Grand Staircase stage (assistance with set-up for live
         feeds available)

Who: Michael Farrell, President of Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital,

will talk about the toll impaired driving takes on children and
families and offer tips for holiday partygoers to plan a safe ride
         home.

Thomas Brickman, Captain with the Euclid Police Department, will
discuss the countywide law enforcement crackdown on impaired
driving in Cuyahoga County that will take place from Dec. 14
         through Jan. 4.

Why: Of the 34 fatalities on Ohio roadways during the holiday season
last year (Dec. 23 to Jan. 2), more than half were killed in
impaired driving crashes. Drunken drivers are over-represented in
fatal crashes: while only 6 percent of motor vehicle crashes in
Cuyahoga County during 2006 were alcohol-related, more than 1 in
every 3 traffic crash deaths was alcohol-related.

The Cuyahoga County Law Enforcement Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional coalition of 45 law enforcement agencies throughout the county that work together collaboratively to make our roadways safer by combating impaired and aggressive driving. The Task Force is led by the Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital Injury Prevention Center, which also serves as lead agency for the Greater Cleveland Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition.
