First Automotive Logistics India Conference addresses role of logistics
in delivering competitive advantage in the region
Automotive Logistics Conference, 4-6 December, New Delhi.
The first detailed analysis of the logistics challenges facing
automotive manufacturers and suppliers operating in India will take
place at the Automotive Logistics India Conference in New Delhi,
December 4-6. Papers will be presented by an impressive range of senior
speakers from vehicle manufacturers, technology suppliers and logistics
specialists, each with a fascinating perspective on the region.
“In a rapidly developing market, knowledge and insight are the keys to
competitive advantage,” says conference Chairman Louis Yiakoumi. “With
substantial distances and challenging infrastructure, effective
logistics is one of the cornerstones of success for any company
operating in India, whether purchasing, selling or manufacturing.”
Speakers will include some of the most influential people operating in
the Indian automotive industry. Opening the programme, Jörg Müller,
president of Volkwagen India, and Robert Strain, logistics director
global purchasing and supply chain Asia Pacific, General Motors, will
deliver an analysis of the automotive industry in India and the growing
importance of excellent logistics management. Senior managers from BMW,
Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra will then provide examples of best
practice plant and supply chain management.
After lunch, senior speakers from Ford India, Tata Motors, Volkswagen
India and Mahindra Logistics will discuss the increasingly sophisticated
logistics requirements of India-based car manufacturers and call for a
closer working relationship as their businesses and global roles
develop. To close the first day, delegates will hear how local and
global logistics service providers are supporting automotive companies
in India with a detailed business discussion that will include advice on
partnerships versus acquisition, developing smaller providers and 3PL
concepts.
Day two includes a more detailed look at how to manage
infrastructure-related issues, with contributions from vehicle
manufacturers, technology suppliers and logistics specialists including
Krashna Kotak, managing director, JM Baxi Group, Rodney Salmon,
commercial director of Linpac Allibert’s Global Automotive Solutions
group and Arun Modgil, president of automotive CKD packaging specialist
CKDPack.
Delegates will learn about the strategies that have brought success for
companies already operating in India, and be briefed on issues that will
affect their own success. Associated networking events will allow the
development of contacts amongst peer-group companies and amongst
potential customers and suppliers.
The conference is supported by Adani Logistics, Boxtrans, CKDpack, GBA
Group of Companies, Gefco, Linpac Allibert, Mosolf and Shreyas Relay
Systems as silver sponsors and Transport Intelligence as media partner.
