Casey Wyatt Claims 2nd at Dillon Motor Speedway

Dillon, SC- Casey Wyatt traveled to South Carolina Thanksgiving weekend to compete in the Dillon Motor Speedway Seneca 300. From the start of the first practice, the #29 Monte Carlo was consistently at the top of the speed charts and qualified third for Sundays feature.

Upon arriving at the track on Sunday, officials informed crew chief Sam Gaita that weight percentages would have to be adjusted on the car to equalize the field. At the start of the race, Casey expressed that the movement of weight had changed the handling of the car, which required him to change his entry through the corners. With close competition, Casey fought hard to achieve and maintain the second spot in the field.

With 35 laps to go, Casey radioed to his spotter that he had no brakes. This set up an immense challenge for him, as he couldn't get to the bottom of the track until the exit of the turns; which opened up the bottom groove for other racers. With 20 laps to go, he managed to put ample breathing room between him and the third place car. This allowed Casey to close in on the leader who had opened up almost a straightway lead. At lap 65, Casey was putting the heat on the leader in the center of the turns when the final caution flag waved.

Casey restarted the race with heavy pressure from the third place competitor. Digging deep at the entry of turn 1 with no brakes, he slid up the track into the marbles and bottomed out as the third place racer pulled even with him at the exit of turn 2. He held his line on the outside and raced back to second within a lap. This afforded the time that the race leader needed to gain a comfortable lead on Casey. The remaining 6 laps, he protected his position while trying to make up as much ground as possible to take the top spot. Time however was not on his side, as he finished second in his first race ever at Dillon Motor Speedway.

Casey and Wyatt Motorsports would like to thank Dillon Motor Speedway, their car sponsors
