Prime Motor Group Purchases Clair Dealerships

BOSTON November 26, 2007; Prime Motor Group of Saco, Maine, announced today that it has purchased nine dealerships previously owned by the Clair Auto Group in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

Dealerships in Massachusetts include Toyota, Scion and Honda on the West Roxbury/Dedham Line, Acura in Walpole and Mercedes Benz and Porsche-Audi in Westwood. An Acura dealership in Hampton, NH was also acquired, as were Honda, Volkswagen and Ford, Lincoln Mercury and Mazda dealerships in Saco, Maine.

Ira Rosenberg, previous owner of the Ira dealerships in Danvers, Massachusetts, came out of retirement five years ago to form Prime Motor Group in Saco, Maine, and currently operates four stores in the southern part of the state and an Infiniti store in Hanover, Massachusetts.

In discussing his return to the automotive business in the Bay State, Rosenberg said, “I look forward to bringing my brand of service and respect for customers back to the people. Our success in Maine proves that if you treat people right, you’ll have a customer for life.”

Clair was founded in 1964 by Ernie Clair and developed a strong reputation for fairness and service. When Ernie retired, his sons, Joseph, James, Mark and Michael, took over the individual dealerships in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts and continued building on their father’s legacy. According to Joe Clair, because of the synergy between Clair and Prime, selling the Clair stores to Prime Motor Group make good sense for Clair’s customers. “Ira Rosenberg and his family have always shown the same tremendous respect for their customers that Clair has. I strongly believe that Clair’s customers will be in good hands at Prime.”

Prime Motor Group currently operates Toyota, Scion, Hyundai, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Maine and has established itself as the fastest growing dealer group in Maine through aggressive pricing and a strong emphasis on service.

“My business philosophy has not changed in 30 years: treat every customer the way you want to be treated,” said Rosenberg.
