Jacobs Receives Contract From Wind Shear Inc. to Provide Operations and Maintenance
PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 27, 2007 -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced today that it received a five-year contract from Wind Shear, Inc., a subsidiary of Haas Automation Inc., to perform test operations and maintenance of North America's first motorsports wind tunnel with a rolling road commercially available to test a variety of full-scale race cars and consumer vehicles.
Officials estimate the value of the operations contract at $17 million.
Jacobs received the original design and construction contract for the wind tunnel in 2006 and expects to complete construction in March of 2008. Immediately following construction completion, Jacobs and Wind Shear, Inc. will begin operating the new 180 mile per hour open jet wind tunnel in Concord, N.C.
In making the announcement, Jacobs President and CEO Craig Martin stated, "We are pleased to expand our services to the motorsports community by providing the total turnkey delivery of design, construction, operations, and maintenance of this facility. By providing test operations and maintenance, we will provide valuable insight to the aerodynamic testing of vehicles enabling us to better support Wind Shear, Inc. and the motorsports community."
